Wave of Inspiration

by Wendy Betterini

Brilliant Rumi Quotes - I have a lot of favorite authors, but one that tends to spark a welcome wave of inspiration and renewal every time I read his work is Rumi. Rumi was a 13th century Persian poet (1207-1273). Though his original works were written in Persian, they have also been translated into other languages and are still enjoyed by people in many countries today - even seven centuries after his death! Such timeless writings hold true gems of wisdom that we can rediscover and savor each time we ponder them..
With that thought in mind, I'd love to share five of Rumi's quotes that I believe are truly brilliant. They are my personal favorites and I've shared a few thoughts about why they speak so strongly to my heart - but don't take my word for it; ponder them yourself and let them speak to you... What insights do they hold for you?
"Let the beauty you love be what you do.
There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the earth"

This quote immediately moves me into that fabulous state of passion and joy that can only come from following your heart! Every time I read it I feel like kicking off my shoes, grabbing a notebook and pen and heading out to the back yard to write some poetry. Not that I write much poetry. Besides, it's winter here so my feet would get cold. But Rumi's words make me want to do it anyway..
On a deeper level, this quote reminds me that our true happiness comes from having a purpose in life. Something that makes us feel like we're doing worthwhile work - even if it's only worthwhile to us. And I love the phrase, "kneel and kiss the earth" - it brings to mind thoughts of gratitude and appreciation for, well - everything. The world around us and all of its inhabitants from people to animals to plants and even the tiniest insects... What wonders surround us!
"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy"
So many of us forget this simple wisdom in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. We're so focused on what we have to do, need to do, almost forgot to do - that we end up living from our harried minds rather than the deeper place that makes everything so sacred..
Try an experiment yourself to feel the power in Rumi's words: Choose one task, big or small and do it from your soul. Take a walk and make a point of moving your body slowly and reverently. Brush your hair as if it were made of spun glass that might break if you tug too hard. Revel in the sensation of the brush bristles massaging your scalp and softening your hair. Even simple activities, when done in a conscious spiritual state, can awaken you in such profound ways that you'll never be the same..
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it"
Nowadays we are becoming more aware of the power of our own thoughts and the role they play in forming our physical reality, and this quote is very revealing in that context! Every time I read it I'm reminded that lack does not exist except in my own mind. Whatever I think I don't have enough of, I simply need to awaken to the ways I am blocking it from my perception. When I do that, suddenly it's all there right before my eyes, as it always was - if only I had been willing to see it. This can apply not only to love but money, good health, joy, inner peace, and so much more..
"The universe and the light of the stars come through me"
I don't think Rumi was bragging about his own greatness with this line but rather sharing the insight that all of us "give birth" to our reality (our own universe, really) through our perceptions. He also may have been referring to inspiration - I've often said that written words "come through me" at times, especially when I'm "in the flow" and the words just come out with little editing on my part..
"Burdens are the foundations of ease and bitter things the forerunners of pleasure"
What a powerful message is contained in this gem! So often we resent the difficult moments in life and forget that they provide an important service for us. Not only do they lay a foundation and pave the way for better times later; they help us to become stronger, better people so we can appreciate those pleasant experiences when they arrive..
When I think back to some of the more difficult times I've had in life, I'm truly grateful for them now. They taught me a lot about myself and contributed greatly to the person I've become. I try hard to remember that when I find myself in tough situations these days - which makes them easier to bear..
In fact, that's what I love so much about quotes like Rumi's; they offer a moment of reprieve, a glimpse of grace and a gentle reminder that the difficult moments will pass and the sun will shine once again... What more could we ask for?

Healing Messages

from the Angels

by Doreen Virtue

The angels are here on earth now more than ever, as we strive for peace, compassion and tolerance in today's world. They bring us guidance and reassurance, but mostly they bring us reminders of the love that exists within each of us. Here are some recent healing messages that the angels have given to me:
About Betrayal - What is at the heart of betrayal, dear one? A feeling of being compromised or unloved? Truly, the person who hurts you is betraying him or herself alone. This person unwittingly cast a pebble into a pool with ripples which stung you with deep pain instead of a clear reflection of love. Will you now betray yourself further by leaving your true self behind in consciousness? Your focus upon hurt will only serve to further hurt you, precious one. You can do more harm to yourself than any other person by your continually focusing upon this hurt.
Leave the hurt behind, dear child! Do not betray yourself further by walking upon this path of painful contemplation. You do no one justice by holding the hurtful situation in the palm of your hands. And yet you need to heal. So cleansing yourself of hurt will both free your consciousness and rid you of the deep and stinging wound of having a dear one disappoint you.
See now we angels circling around your middle, and notice we are getting closer and gaining in numbers. Our wings are outstretched like one giant circle of a tray around you, and we ask you to place your hands face down upon this tray of wings. Let us warm you from the palms upward with our love. Feel us gliding your energy imbalances to a place of peace and safety with our continuous motion.
You may send your anger at the betrayal from your mind, heart and gut all the way through your fingers and send it to us. Give us all of your tender and sweet emotions: the love that you feel was taken from you by your friend's betrayal. The feeling of foolishness because you feel you could have known better than to trust this person's sincerity. The feeling that you wasted your time once again on a nowhere relationship. We know just how you feel, dear one.
Yet though we share your hurts and shoulder your burdens, we never lose sight of the fact that in truth, there is no betrayal nor hurt. The true heart connection between you and the other person has registered in eternity for the moments of love which it added to the universe. That love, sweet one, can never be undone and never needs to be regretted.
About Happiness - In your imaginings, you believe that happiness is a thing which you must chase and wrestle to the ground before its capture. This beast which you imagine is but your own idea that your truth is illusive in nature. It is not, we assure you! Rejecting that which seems too simple, you ignore the reassurances which easily guide you to your home.
Do not think that you need to guard your body or situation from harm, while you search for truth outside of yourselves. For in your thought that you must exchange something that you fear, for that which you desire, you bring about continual terror upon your mind.
There is nothing real that you can lose, dear child! Nothing as precious as you could have hardship, except by your choosing. And this, too, you can undo with your mere wish to stop and be renewed. There is no complexity in happiness, for simplicity is its one essential ingredient. Rejoice, then, in the factual nature of your true essence. Rejoice in the living spirit which is you, and which God created for holy purposes. And in your rejoicing, be bathed in continual wonderment at the gifts that are of you and by your wish. There is nowhere else to go but here, and a simple breath and prayer are your passports to the place which for so long has seemed to evade you.
About Loneliness - You are so mightily loved that your awareness is just a glimmer upon the smile that is within your heart. You do not understand your greatness, and so you turn away from beholding it, for fear of having awe of the light that is shining there within you.
Behold your greatness, precious one! Do not turn from the light that will dazzle away your emptiness and fill it with a love that is so real and eternal that nothing can compare in any place or in any time! Hold its substance in your arms in warm embrace for that which can only fill your emptiness with love, eternal love, pure and rushing through you, through and through!

Healing Meditation with Archangel Raphael

You can work with Archangel Raphael and his healing energy using meditation.

To prepare say a prayer to God/dess, to please help you be as open to the healing as possible and to join in the healing work and support you through your healing process.

Sit comfortably where you will not be disturbed. Begin by grounding and centering yourself. Close your eyes and imagining roots growing from your feet into Mother Earth. Then follow this simple breathing exercise to relax your physical body: breathe in through your nose, hold it for 7 seconds, and release it very slowly through your mouth. Repeat 3 times then unconsciously continue breathing this way throughout the meditation. Tell your Ego-self to move toward your left shoulder. Let the Ego-self know that it’s only an observer during the healing and know this is so.  Ask God/dess to send down a beam of protective white light. God/dess hears your request and in your mind’s eye you immediately envision a beam of light coming down from the universe. Watch it surround you in a protective glow.

Call Archangel Raphael, either mentally or out loud and ask. “Archangel Raphael please come to me now and assist me in my healing.” If you like, also invite in your Higher Self and your own Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels. You don’t need to know their names, just say "Spirit Guides and Guardian Angels, please join Archangel Raphael in my healing session."

In your mind’s eye, picture Raphael standing over you with his hands outstretched over your head. See the healing energy in the form of green light flowing from his hands down into your body through your crown chakra (the top of your head). Try to relax and feel the energy. You may not be able to feel the energy at first, but after doing this a few times (if needed), you will probably begin to become more sensitive to the energy. Most people feel the healing energy as warmth or tingling. Others feel a soft and loving stream running through their body. Whatever you feel is right for you.

The first time, let this energy flow through you for a while, opening you to Archangel Raphael’s curative energy and preparing you on all levels to accept the healing. This initial step can last for several minutes or until you feel that it is time to move on to the next step.

Now change the focus onto specific parts of your body. Picture Raphael's hands over these areas and feel and see the green light flowing through his hands to your injury or area of illness.

When you are through, thank Archangel Raphael, and ask him to protect you from negative thoughts and feelings that manifest into health problems. Also thank your Spirit Guides and Angels for assisting in the healing.

Focus on grounding and centering yourself. Again, picture the roots from your feet into Mother Earth.

Now open your eyes.

It does not matter if you are good at visualization, or whether or not you can physically feel the healing energy from Archangel Raphael and your intentions are what you are healed by. This method works with injuries and illnesses equally well.

You may repeat this work several times a day if necessary, or whenever you feel you need it.

Once you are used to healing work with Archangel Raphael, your Spirit Guides and Angels, you can ask them for quick relief and healing. This is especially helpful for chronic conditions they regularly work with you on such as pain relief.

Please remember to thank Archangel Raphael, your Guides and Angels for their help. It’s not necessary but they really appreciate the acknowledgment that you know they are their working with you. You can also take the time and opportunity to talk with them, either telepathically in your mind or softly out loud. They do hear what you say and acknowledge in ways that they can, even if you can't hear their responses back to you in words.

Quote For The Week

"Where would I possibly find enough leather
With which to cover the surface of the earth?
But (just) leather on the soles of my shoes
Is equivalent to covering the earth with it
Likewise it is not possible for me
To restrain the external course of things
But should I restrain this mind of mine
What would be the need to restrain all else?"
